So back to the story… Kristin says”I want to be in a big field with a piano”I said”good luck with that”. She said”we have a piano already we just need a place to shoot with it”. Well, to say the least I was very excited! I had to then scout locations for what I had in my mind. I kept coming back to images in a short film the Beatles had done for the song Strawberry Fields. In that film they used a white stand up piano,the same kind Kristin had. It was last fall when we started on this so I had this vision of  a wheat field , low light or maybe dusk with big sky. I found the perfect place with amber ways of grain and great vistas. The only problem was by the time we could get together the field had been cultivated and plowed,now what?

Fast forward to the spring of 2012. Kristin calls me and says “hey Kevin a friend of mine has a big 100 acre farm we can use” “she has big fields and one of them has a huge tree in the middle” I said “YES ! That is exactly what we need!” In my mind this was the perfect spot but we had to see it and can we truck a piano out into a field? Is it going to be too wet? Just lots of things to think about.

The day we chose was April 27th a beautiful day but with barley 60 degree temps and a steady 20 mph wind with gusts higher it posed a challenge. Being the professional that I am and a couple who are determined to make their vision happen it was a recipe for success. Thank you Kristin and Alex for your wonderful ideas and hard work to make these images great!

Susan and I sat down a week before and talked about what it was she wanted the photos to say from this weekend. ” I want my daughters twenty years from now to see their mother and father in love, that marriage can last and that you can be in love forever”. I thought what a beautiful concept. We also talked about having some fun with Tiffany’s ,the Brooklyn Bridge and it also was Susan’s Birthday that weekend.

So to my surprise Susan and Ted put us up in the Waldorf Astoria the same hotel they were staying. The big surprise was when we got to their suite it was massive. The suite was the former home of Niki and Paris Hilton, ya know just a place for kids to hang out!

To say the least the weekend was a great success and I think the photos are excellent! Please let me know what you think, I always love to hear from you:)

Faye & Matt were married on May 23,2010 at the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia.

What an honor it is to be chosen as a winner in the PDN Ultimate Music Moment Contest 2011! I have always wanted to be published in Photo District News(PDN). As a photographer this magazine has been my source for inspiration,education and information as long as I’ve been in photography,30 plus years. PDN was were you saw the new talent and read about the “rock star photogs”! Being a photographer and published in this magazine is without a doubt,WINNING!

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a local business owner is joining the fight in a very creative way. Manayunk native and internationally known artist Sandy O and her company Creative Juice Group are presenting a Breast Cancer awareness painted body shoot on Wednesday October 26th at their studio in Bridgeport, PA.

They will be painting women as well as a drag queen for this shoot.  All models will be naked from the waist up. Aspiring performance artists of all stripes who would like to help increase awareness and wish to be painted are also encouraged to contact Creative Juice Group.

I recently asked Sandy O what she does and her response was “I paint naked people”. Therefore this event is a perfect fit in the fight against an awful disease. But it’s also very personal. Sandy O has not only witnessed her own mother’s courageous battle with Breast Cancer, but has also been recently diagnosed with it herself.  Having spoken to her, I can tell you that she’s clearly not backing down from the fight.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of women and men are diagnosed with breast cancer. By the end of 2011, the Komen Foundation estimates there will be 38,520 breast cancer-related deaths in the United States alone. Sandy O and the other talented professional artists at Creative Juice Group remain committed to the fight.

The event will take place all day long on Wednesday with the final photos taking place around 7:00pm when all the models will be painted and ready for a grand finale shot.

When this photo was made (Jan 2006) Dan had just singed with the Target Ganssi Racing, they and Team Penske are the two dominant teams in Indy car racing and very successful in NASCAR . Ganassi also ran two team operation in the Grand Am sports car series and their Premier event is the 24hrs of Daytona. In 2006 there were only a handful of drivers who could claim an Indy 500 win and a win in the prestigious 24hrs of Daytona. There are special races that command a certain amount of respect because of history or challenge to your ability and all drivers want to win those, The “24hrs” is one of them.

I hung around the pits after a practice session when Dan came by. I introduced myself and asked if we could do a couple of shots. The worst someone can say is no. I understand these folks are very busy and their time is precious. They have cameras in their faces constantly ,especially at a race tracks. I asked him if he could do a couple of photos with me I promised it would only be a minute. He said “sure but I must go over and talk with this guy (engineer I guess?) but I’ll be right back”,” Ok” I said . I thought that was very cool. So a few minutes later here he comes, “Hi I’m Dan”, “Hi Dan I’m Kevin Thank you for your time” “No problem” he said.

That was the first and unfortunately last time I will see Dan Wheldon. I only met him for a second really, but many drivers would or could not come out of their trailers after a meeting to do a posed photo . I thought that was really nice of him, Thanks Dan!
